Born and raised in Toronto, Mara wanted to be an ‘artist’ when she was a little girl but eventually decided to pursue a career in fashion. After earning a degree in Apparel Design she spent several years designing her own women’s clothing line, followed by many years designing handmade furniture and accessories with her woodworker husband. Having finally come full circle, she has spent recent years fulfilling her childhood dream of working as a professional artist, while continuing to co-run the design business she founded with her husband.
While Mara finds inspiration in a wide variety of places, her overall aim is to engage the viewer and draw them into her work with the illusion of depth and 3D-like imagery. She regularly exhibits her work at art exhibitions such as The Artist Project Toronto, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, and the One of a Kind Show and Sale. Mara currently lives and works in Caledon, Ontario.
