Central & Remote: July 6th – 8th

A round up of the best/weirdest things to do this weekend in Toronto…

Friday July 6th

JULYNA: THE EXHIBITION | AWOL Gallery

Move over Movemever it’s July now and that means it’s time for… Julyna? Like prostate cancer, cervical cancer is preventable with awareness, education and screening. Julyna, like Movemenber (an awareness campaign during the month of November for prostate cancer where men grow out their mustaches) Julyna involves hair. During the month of July women will choose a style for their pubic hair and stick with it for the month, gaining pledges along the way. Ladies can go au natural, total shaved (aka “the Yul Brynner”), or sport “the Brazilian”, “the Topknot”, or the classic “Chaplin”.

Opening this Friday is an art exhibition at AWOL Gallery featuring a collection of artwork depicting and celebrating the muff. A little less Georgia O’Keeffe but very much about the hair down there.

AWOL Gallery (78 Ossington), Friday July 6th, 7PM Free.

About the Author: Yuli was born at the exact moment in 1986 when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded and rained down on the ocean. As a child she believed this meant she was destined for greatness in the realm of space travel and radioastronomy. Nothing remotely as awesome as that has happened so far. Instead Yuli, at the age of 18, relocated from Calgary to Ottawa where she studied photography, life sciences and graphic design before moving to Toronto. [More by Yuli]
