Saturday December 31st – New Years Eve

Double Double Land is a lot of things. At times a cinema, yoga space, art gallery, but always a gathering place. Finding the space takes special instructions and adds to the private club house mystic. Proceed to 209 Augusta Ave. in Kensington Market. See that gate off to the side in what looks like an alley? Halfway down on your right is a door, take the stairs to what is essentially an attic and you’ve entered Double Double Land.

On the opposite side of the block, over on Kensington Ave is Cold Tea. A bar with secret entrance appeal. Cold Tea also offers late night Dim Sum snacks and Biergarten style outdoor seating. An alley is all that separates Double Double Land from Cold Tea so they’re throwing a joint NYE party. $12 for one party, but if you want to transverse that alley and take in both parties it’s only $20.

Here’s what to expect:

- DJs Rob Gordon, Luca Lucarini, Laura McCoy, Daniel Vila

- An irrigation system installed in the ceiling by CN TOWER LIQUIDATION

- A live set by very special persons to be announced

- A special photo booth shrine where you can get your picture taken doing something stupid

- A new year’s countdown video by Jon McCurley and Laura McCoy

- Free premium alcoholic punch with floating ice dildos at 9 pm

- Lots of fog and light for like half an hour after midnight

- Free champagne at midnight

- Alley to be decorated by Jon McCurley

About the Author: Yuli was born at the exact moment in 1986 when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded and rained down on the ocean. As a child she believed this meant she was destined for greatness in the realm of space travel and radioastronomy. Nothing remotely as awesome as that has happened so far. Instead Yuli, at the age of 18, relocated from Calgary to Ottawa where she studied photography, life sciences and graphic design before moving to Toronto. [More by Yuli]
